Granville Academy is part of the de Ferrers Trust. We are a Multi Academy Trust currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 Secondary Academies and 4 Primary Academies.

The Candidate

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated Head of year to work as part of our pastoral team. Working closely with other Heads of Year and the safeguarding team, you will support our students day-to-day ensuring that all students make exceptional progress by displaying strong attitudes to learning and the highest levels of behaviour. You will develop a distinct culture and year group ethos, which foster a student’s sense of pride and loyalty to their year group. You will take ownership and provide leadership to your year group, and strive to ensure students meet the high standards of the academy, and intervene quickly when this does not happen.

You should apply for this position if you want to develop a distinct year ethos and foster pupils’ sense of pride in and loyalty to their year group. You will be able to demonstrate the skills which will enable you to monitor progress, attitude, attendance and conduct across the curriculum and the academy. You will support students to meet their targets and liaise with teachers, parents, the SENDCO, EWO, social / health agencies and other professionals including educational psychologists and alternative provision as necessary to ensure all students in your
year group are able to fulfil their potential and be successful.

This is a student facing role, the successful candidate will be a key point of contact for our students and must be able to establish effective working relationships with our students and their families utilising their excellent all-round communication skills to do so.

First Aid trained is an advantage, but not essential as comprehensive training will be provided. 

No two days are the same so the successful candidate will need to have the resilience and enthusiasm to deliver accurate results in a fast-paced environment.

The position will be 37 hours per week, working weeks 43 weeks (Term Time plus 4 weeks).
