The Pingle Academy is an 11-19 co-educational, comprehensive school, became an academy in May 2017 and joined The de Ferrers Trust. Our oversubscribed academy is the academy of choice in the local area and enjoys an excellent local reputation.

In 2019, the academy enjoyed its best ever results, both at GCSE and A Level. In October 2021 OFSTED judged the academy as GOOD in all areas.

The Candidate

The Pingle Academy is seeking a passionate and dynamic Head of Sixth Form to lead, manage, and inspire our sixth form students to achieve their full potential. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the educational journey of our students during these crucial years, ensuring they are well-prepared for higher education and beyond. Your leadership will be instrumental in fostering a positive and inclusive environment that aligns with our core values of working hard, being kind, and choosing wisely. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Lead and manage all aspects of the sixth form, ensuring students achieve their potential.
    • Demonstrate and support strategies for inclusion, raising achievement, and excellence.
    • Observe lessons, provide quality feedback, and support teaching and learning improvements.
    • Manage the sixth form budget and allocate post-16 bursaries appropriately.
  • Teaching and Learning:
    • Manage daily operations and overall progress of the sixth form.
    • Monitor, record, track, and report on student progress.
    • Ensure implementation of school policies, including equality, health and safety, and literacy.
    • Support with timetabling and curriculum development for years 12-13.
  • Communication and Safeguarding:
    • Ensure effective communication and consultation with parents/carers and outside agencies.
    • Promote and ensure the safeguarding of all pupils, working in line with statutory guidance.
