Trust Head of Education
"I genuinely believe in the Trust values, and especially in the combination of working hard and having high expectations, whilst being kind and supportive. I am extremely honoured to join The de Ferrers Trust as your Head of Education and look forward to working with all our stakeholders to ensure our pupils and staff thrive.”
I started my career as a teacher of business and economics at a High School in Staffordshire. During my time here, I took on several roles including Head of House, Head of Department and Assistant Headteacher. This enabled me to gain experience of leading a range of responsibilities including behaviour, teaching and learning, curriculum, professional development and assessment and reporting. Prior to joining The de Ferrers Trust, I have been responsible for professional development and teaching and learning across a large trust of schools, working with school leaders from across a range of primary and secondary settings to drive school improvement.
I am passionate about developing and growing the teachers and leaders of the future and so deliver on the Early Career Framework, and a range of leadership qualifications including the National Professional Qualifications and the University of Birmingham’s MA in Educational Leadership. I am equally as committed to my own professional development and have completed my National Professional Qualification in Headship and the Exemplary Leadership Programme, and constantly strive to improve my own knowledge and practice. I am a firm believer in the importance of evidence-informed practice and the promotion of this across our sector. I write and present a quarterly publication on recent research in education and work as an Evidence Lead in Education for Staffordshire Research School. I also regularly present at national education conferences, provide professional development
for national organisations and trusts, and have authored two books on evidence-informed practice: ‘What Every Teacher Needs to Know: How to embed evidence-informed practice in your school’ and ‘Desirable Difficulties in Action’.
